The application documents and presents the natural landscape of Lake Stymphalia over time and provides data on the state of the lake (water cover, vegetation, soil) in almost real time, but also over time since 1972 and beyond, based on the available satellite data.
The application provides three different functions: "Simple", "Advanced" and "Comparison", which allow for different mapping of satellite images and parameters of the Lake.
Specifically:
This feature illustrates the evolution of the lake landscape (water cover, vegetation, soil) over time since 1972 and thereafter, based on available satellite data. The area appears in the form of a political map. By selecting the satellite option from the upper right corner of the map, the satellite mapping of the area appears.
By selecting the button Play on the map, the status of the lake is evolving. Blue is the size of the water, with green for vegetation and brown for soil. At the bottom of the map, the dates of the data are displayed.
By selecting the button Pause one can pause the presentation. By selecting the buttons,

the user can move to a past or future date.
To display the date for a specific time period, the user can choose the Advanced button.
The user can choose the time period and the date to be displayed (water cover, vegetation, soil). On the upper side of the map there is a diagram with the statistical data for the chosen time period.
To display data for different time periods, the user can choose the button for Comparison.
The user can choose to view different data for 2 different dates. The application presents 2 maps one for each selected date. The user can choose the kind of information to be displayed (water cover, vegetation, soil). On the upper side of the maps (for each date) there is a diagram with the statistical data.
Additional information and access to numeric data requires access to the application management environment. Access is granted after submission of the following completed application form to piop at piraeusbank dot gr on the subject of Lake Stymfalia Access Application.
